Creating a Unique Identity for an Alpine School
The School Arosa & Mittelschanfigg approached us with the goal of establishing a distinct visual identity. Previously, the school used the Council's logo, which did not reflect their unique mission, values, or connection to the community. They needed a logo that would represent their dedication to quality education while paying homage to the beautiful alpine setting of Arosa and the Schanfigg valley.
We started by deeply understanding the school’s ethos and its role in the local community. The design had to feel approachable and professional, while also embodying the natural beauty of the area. The solution was a bold, symbolic logo complemented by a set of detailed brand guidelines to ensure the identity could be applied consistently across all platforms.
The result is a visual identity that blends simplicity and meaning. The logo’s clean design, paired with a versatile colour palette and clear typography, allows the school to stand out while maintaining professionalism. This new branding serves as a unifying symbol for the school’s students, staff, and families.
A Visual Identity Rooted in Community and Nature
The logo was designed to capture the essence of the School Arosa & Mittelschanfigg. The triangular shapes in the logo represent the iconic mountains that surround the school, grounding its identity in the local landscape. The bright yellow and bold blue tones were chosen for their symbolic meanings: yellow conveys optimism and energy, while blue embodies trust and reliability.
To ensure the branding remains cohesive, we created a set of brand guidelines that outline:
• Logo usage in different formats and settings (full colour, black and white, and inverted versions).
• Typography recommendations, featuring Century Gothic for a modern and clean look.
• A primary and secondary colour palette to support a wide range of applications.
The brand guidelines include all necessary file formats (PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF), enabling seamless use of the logo for print, digital, and promotional materials. This ensures that the school’s identity remains clear and professional across all touchpoints.
